Does it just give me the answer?
It explains how to get there, on your own question, step by step — and usually leaves the last step for you, because that is the bit that makes it stick. If you want a clue and nothing more, tap "Hint, not the answer". It will not write out homework for you to copy.
Can I send a photo of the question?
Yes. Every free trial includes 3 Photo Questions, and the Plus plan includes 100 a month — photograph the page, the worksheet or the diagram and ask about it. If part of the photo is unclear, ExplainIt says what it can and cannot read rather than guessing. The free try on this page is text only.
Which subjects?
Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Business are built on the Junior Cycle and Leaving Cert topic lists, and Maths and Science on the Primary curriculum, so explanations match what your course expects and ExplainIt can remember which topics you find hard. You can ask about other subjects too; those get explanations but no topic tracking.
Does it remember me?
With an account, yes: your year and level, the topics you have worked on, and mistakes you keep making (like dropping a minus sign), so the next explanation starts from where you are. The free try on this page is not saved.
Is it always right?
No AI is. ExplainIt is told to say when it is unsure and never to invent exam rules or marking schemes, but check anything important with your teacher or textbook.
What does a parent see?
The account belongs to a parent. They see which subjects and topics their child has worked on, how each topic is going, and when they studied — not the conversations themselves.
